Robert Almonte II
Robert Almonte II is an award-winning trial lawyer with more than a decade of experience as both a federal and state prosecutor. He has been nationally recognized for superior performance by the Department of Justice Executive Office for United States Attorneys and holds unmatched experience in navigating the most difficult cases with a deep understanding of criminal charges and penalties.
Robert earned an undergraduate degree from St. Mary’s University and a Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law. After graduating from law school, Robert was employed as an Assistant District Attorney (ADA) where he quickly developed a reputation for being effective, aggressive, and efficient. Following his tenure as a state prosecutor, Robert was appointed to the Western District of Texas as an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) by then-Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr. There, Robert managed and tried cases involving bank robbery, carjacking, kidnapping, extortion, hate crimes, environmental crimes, fraud, human trafficking, child pornography, offenses committed on federal property, firearms violations, alien smuggling, illegal immigration, and civil rights violations. Robert is well versed in civil and criminal matters concerning asset forfeiture, including seizures of real and personal property by the government.
For the majority of his career as a prosecutor, Robert was assigned to the Complex Fraud and Public Corruption Unit where his caseload encompassed white-collar crime, public corruption, health care fraud, procurement fraud, tax violations, wire fraud and other financial fraud crimes. Robert was responsible for the investigation and prosecution of some of the most serious and high-profile cases in the Western District of Texas. Robert gained immeasurable courtroom experience while handling thousands of cases as a prosecutor at all stages from indictment to trial.
